Preparing for the tour

  • Setting up the Loquiz App
    • We use an app called Loquiz to run the tour. It is one of the best! Download it from the Google Play store or the Apple App store . Install the app as soon as you receive your tickets. Do not log in until you are ready to start the tour. 
    • The tour uses 4G and 5G connection to run - so you'll need 1 phone with internet connection per purchased ‘ticket’. All our tour locations have excellent Telstra and Optus coverage. If you are with a third party check their coverage in the town of your tour ahead of time. 
    • Before you start the tour, optimise the location accuracy in your phone’s settings. View how to do this here
    • Ensure you have a full battery on your phone. It is ideal if someone else in your team also have a phone with a full battery – in case there is an issue with your phone throughout the tour you will easily be able to swap to the other phone.
    • Only log into the Loquiz app when you want to start the game. Once you log in your game has officially started. To log in the app simply ensure it is installed and click in the QR code in your booking confirmation email (look for an email titled “Your Local Adventures order is now complete” in your inbox.  
  • Must-reads to prepare for the tour
    • Review the important information and route overview section located at the bottom of the website page of the tour you purchased.
    • Check and monitor forecasts and Bureau of Meteorology alerts.
    • Wear clothes and shoes appropriate for the conditons. Bring water, hat, sunscreen etc. 
    • Read the ‘On tour and having issues’ section below.  
  • How to start the tour

    Do this when you are about to start your tour - about 10 minutes before you walk or drive to your first location.

    • First either 1) cilck the QR code in the “Your Local Adventure order is now complete” email – you will then be able to open Loquiz from the menu that appears and automatically log you in the app. 2) Alternatively, open the app and use the username and password that are in the same email. If several tickets have been purchased you need to use one ticket per smartphone (the username doesn’t change)
    • Once you’re logged in, give your phone permissions to play the game – tick the 3 boxes (Location, Camera and Album). Don’t worry, once you uninstall the app, these permissions will be automatically revoked.
    • Read the info page which is the first screen you will see. Press OK when you have read it. The information will stay in the app and is available from the menu > info
    • The adventure has now started. You will see a blue dot on the map. This is your location. Navigate to your first location. Once you appear at the location, the question will popup on your screen.

On tour and having issues

  • I cannot login

    Your login details are in your email confirmation called “Your Local Adventures order is now complete”. You can either use the QR Code (click and hold onto it for it to open the app and automatically log you in) or use the username and password. 

  • Empty or low battery

    If your battery is running low you can continue playing the game on another phone. 

  • I can’t see the map anymore
    1. Exit the game on the phone that isn’t working by clicking the menu (3 horizontal lines on the top left of the app when you’re logged in)
    2. Select Exit
    3. Restart the app
    4. Choose “continue last session”
    5. You’ll now continue playing where you left off.

    If the map is still not showing, try logging into another phone.

  • I can’t see my location on the Loquiz Map (the blue dot)

    If the blue dot isn’t visible or is not in the right location follow the below steps

    1. Go to your phone settings 
    2. Look for the Loquiz app in your phone settings
    3. Click location and enable the app to access the location when in use
    4. Restart the app and click “Continue last session”.
  • Logging in on another phone
    1. Exit the game on the phone that isn’t working by clicking the menu (3 horizontal lines on the top left of the app when you’re logged in) and selecting Exit
    2. Download the Loquiz app on the new phone
    3. Log into the new phone with your username and password (listed on your confirmation email)
    4. Click ok on the info page
    5. Press start
    6. Do not fill in your team name again but press ‘or resume with existing teamand select the team name you enteres in the previous phone. 
    7. Continue the tour on your new phone
    8. If it still doesn’t show after all the above contact us on our emergency contact details.
